- Chinese Brush painting is a centuries old method of painting using no preliminary drawing,
working flat on a table.
- It is done on silk or various handmade papers(so called rice) made from mulberry bark,
hemp, bamboo and pineapple leaves.
- Chinese brushes are used consisting of brown hair(rabbit, wolf), white hair(sheep, goat) and
combinations of both.
- Tube and chip colors are used diluted with water. White guoache is also used as is liquid
Chinese ink.
- Subjects include bamboo, flowers, animals, birds and landscape, starting with the panda.
Painting are mounted to be flat for framing.
- Materials needed are:
- A small palette or porcelain dishes.
- Chinese brushes
- CHINESE RICE Paper
- Felt piece about 14"x 18"
- MARIE'S CHINESE Tube colors, also white gouache
- Container for water
- Paper towels
- Bag to hold it all.
